Captions and the AI label

A new UGC ad has no captions and no AI label. Open Captions in the bar to see your own words captioned on your presenter, then pick a style, its size and where it sits. Switch on the AI-generated label there to put it on every frame; without it, say the ad was made with AI where you post it.

A new bar on UGC Ads makes an ad with no captions and no AI label. Both are set in the Captions panel in the bar, and whatever you pick there is part of the video you download.

Captions

Open Captions in the bar. The panel shows your presenter's picture with your own quoted words captioned the way the finished video draws them. Press ▶ to play them through.

  • Style: No captions, or a style: Auto, Word Pop, Impact Slam, Clean Subtitle, Editorial, Luxury Serif, Glass Tech, Marker Energy or Retro Collage. Each tile draws two of your words in that style. A new bar starts on No captions.
  • Size: S, M, L or XL on the slider, from 60% to 160% of the style's own size, or anywhere between. Bigger captions show fewer words at a time.
  • Position: Top, Middle or Bottom, or drag the words up or down on the picture. Bottom is where captions have always sat.

The chip shows the style you picked, and whether the label is on. On a phone, the same controls are under Captions in Settings.

The captions are timed to the words as they're said, and kept clear of the platform's own buttons and text for the shape you picked: 9:16 for TikTok, 4:5 and 1:1 for a Meta feed, 16:9 for YouTube. The dashed line on the picture marks that area, and the captions stay inside it and under the AI label when it's on. A script made in parts is captioned once, across the whole joined video.

Every take is finished the same way, captions or not: its clip, or a script's parts, cut together into one video. The finish is charged once a take, and the line under the bar shows its price, as "captions" or, with No captions, "the finish".

The AI label

The switch at the foot of the Captions panel is AI-generated label. It's off to start with, and the panel says what it does: "On every frame, top left. Off: you say it was made with AI where you post it."

With the label on, the video carries a small "AI-generated" tag in the top-left corner, from the first frame to the last. It's drawn the same on every ad, whatever the captions look like, so it stays readable.

With the label off, the line under the bar reminds you: "No AI label on this ad: say it was made with AI where you post it, as TikTok and Meta ask." Your captions and your label stay as you set them for the next ad.

In My ads, tiles and the player also show AI actor, or AI likeness when a real person's likeness is in the ad. That tag belongs to the page; it isn't in the file.

Lines an AI actor can't say as theirs

The words said aloud are read before Generate. An AI actor has never used your product, so a line where they speak as a customer, such as "I've been using it every day for a month" or "it changed my skin", is a made-up testimonial.

  • With the label on, the bar points it out and lets you go ahead: "Heads up: in “…” an AI actor speaks as a customer. You can still make it; the AI label is on every frame."
  • With the label off, Generate stays off until you turn the label on or change the words.

A real person, named, with their permission, may say what they lived, so their lines aren't held to this. If an ad has a real person and an AI actor in it, the lines are read as the AI actor's, since nothing says which of them speaks.

Two things stop Generate whatever the label says: words that present a well-known person as speaking for or endorsing your product ("These words name or imitate a real person. Change them to go on."), and anything sexual involving a child. See Real people: faces, voices and consent.
