Claude Code, the coding agent in your terminal, connects to Vessero with one command. It needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan with Claude: the free plan doesn't include Claude Code. In Connected apps, the same steps open one at a time, with the command to copy, and the last one tells you when Claude Code is in.
Connect Claude Code
- Add Vessero to Claude Code. In a terminal where Claude Code is signed in, run
claude mcp add --transport http vessero --scope user https://vessero.com/mcp. - Sign in with /mcp. Start Claude Code with
claude. - Type
/mcp, pick vessero and start its sign-in. - Your browser opens Vessero's page. Sign in if it asks, then press Allow.
- Check it works. Back in Claude Code, ask: "Use Vessero to show my credit balance."
- Claude Code asks before it uses a tool: approve it, and it answers with your balance.
--scope user adds Vessero for every folder. Without it, Claude Code only has Vessero in the folder you ran the command in.
To sign in without opening Claude Code, run claude mcp login vessero in place of steps 2 and 3. With no browser on that computer, it prints the page's address instead, to open somewhere else.
If you've already connected Vessero on claude.ai, and Claude Code is signed in with the same Claude account, Vessero is already in its /mcp list.
Use a key instead
On a computer with no browser to sign in with, such as a server you reach over SSH, give Claude Code an API key.
- Add Vessero to Claude Code. In Connected apps, under Connect another app, press Claude Code, then Use a key instead.
- Name the key, choose what it can do and, if you like, give it a daily cap. Press Make the key.
- The key is shown once, already in the command. Copy the command and run it in a terminal. It reads
claude mcp add --transport http vessero --scope user https://vessero.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer vsk_…", with your key in place ofvsk_…. - Check it works. Start Claude Code with
claude, and ask: "Use Vessero to show my credit balance."
If it doesn't connect
- "Needs authentication". Type
/mcpand sign in, or runclaude mcp login vessero. - "Failed to connect", with a key. The key was mistyped or revoked. Make a new one, run
claude mcp remove vessero, then the command again. - A warning about whitespace in the Authorization header. The pasted key carried a space or a line break. Remove Vessero and add it again.
- The browser shows a connection error after Allow. Copy the whole address from the browser's address bar and paste it into the prompt Claude Code shows.
