Cursor, the code editor, connects to Vessero through its MCPs. These steps are for Cursor 3.9 or later, which has Customize in its sidebar. In Connected apps, the same steps open one at a time, with the Add to Cursor button, and the last one tells you when Cursor is in.

Connect Cursor

  1. Open Cursor. Open Cursor on this computer and sign in.
  2. Add Vessero to Cursor. In Connected apps, under Connect another app, press Cursor, go to step 2 and press Add to Cursor.
  3. Cursor opens and asks to install vessero: confirm it. There's no key to copy.
  4. Sign in to Vessero. In Cursor, open Customize in the sidebar, then MCPs.
  5. Find vessero and follow its sign-in prompt.
  6. Vessero's page opens. Sign in if it asks, press Allow, then go back to Cursor.
  7. Check it works. In Cursor's Agent chat, ask: "Use Vessero to show my credit balance."
  8. Cursor asks before every tool: approve it, and it answers with your balance.

If nothing opens when you press Add to Cursor, press Copy web link beside it, and open the link in your browser.

Set it up by hand

Instead of Add to Cursor, open or create ~/.cursor/mcp.json, put {"mcpServers": {"vessero": {"url": "https://vessero.com/mcp"}}} in it and save. Restart Cursor, then carry on from step 4. A project's own .cursor/mcp.json works the same way, for that project only.

Use a key instead

On a computer with no browser to sign in with, give Cursor an API key.

  1. Open Cursor. Open Cursor on the computer it runs on.
  2. Add Vessero to Cursor. In Connected apps, under Connect another app, press Cursor. At step 2, press Use a key instead.
  3. Name the key, choose what it can do and, if you like, give it a daily cap. Press Make the key.
  4. The key is shown once, already in Cursor's settings. Put them in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, save it, and restart Cursor.
  5. Check it works. In Cursor's Agent chat, ask: "Use Vessero to show my credit balance."

Never put a key in a project's .cursor/mcp.json that you share or commit.

If it doesn't connect

  • A connection or sign-in error. Open the Output panel (⇧⌘U on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+U elsewhere), pick MCP Logs and read the error.
  • To start clean, remove vessero in Customize › MCPs and add it again.
