Devin Desktop is Windsurf's new name, since 2 June 2026. It connects to Vessero through its MCP config file, on every plan, though a team's MCP allowlist can block servers that aren't on it. In Connected apps, the same steps open one at a time, with the settings to copy, and the last one tells you when Devin Desktop is in.

Connect Devin Desktop

  1. Open the MCP config file. In Devin Desktop, open ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json in the editor, or create it. On Windows, it's %APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json.
  2. Paste Vessero in and save. Put {"mcpServers": {"vessero": {"url": "https://vessero.com/mcp"}}} in the file. If it already lists other servers, add vessero beside them, inside mcpServers.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Authenticate vessero. Choose Open customizations from the new-tab menu in an agent space, and find vessero among the MCP servers.
  5. If it shows Needs auth, click Authenticate.
  6. Vessero's page opens. Sign in if it asks, then press Allow.
  7. Check it works. In a Devin Local chat, ask: "Use Vessero to show my credit balance."
  8. Devin asks before it uses a tool: approve it, and it answers with your balance.

If the devin command is installed, devin mcp add -s user vessero https://vessero.com/mcp and then devin mcp login vessero do the same from a terminal. Devin's own pages name more than one place for the config file, so if Vessero doesn't show up, add it with the command to be sure.

Use a key instead

On a computer with no browser to sign in with, give Devin Desktop an API key.

  1. Open the MCP config file. Open ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json in the editor, or create it.
  2. Paste Vessero in and save. In Connected apps, under Connect another app, press Devin Desktop. At step 2, press Use a key instead.
  3. Name the key, choose what it can do and, if you like, give it a daily cap. Press Make the key.
  4. The key is shown once, already in the settings. Put them in the file and save it.
  5. Check it works. In a Devin Local chat, ask: "Use Vessero to show my credit balance."

If it doesn't connect

  • "Needs auth" or "Auth required". Click Authenticate, or run devin mcp login vessero. If that doesn't clear it, run devin mcp logout vessero, then devin mcp login vessero.
  • Blocked by a team allowlist. Ask your admin to add the server ID vessero, written exactly so.
