A clip you've made, or one you upload, can be worked on in three ways on Video: carried on from its end, changed the way your words say, or followed by a character from a picture. Each makes a new clip, and the one you started from stays as it was. To make a clip sharper, upscale it in Edit & Enhance.
Work on a clip
- Open Edit a video at the top of the bar, and pick a model. Its model menu lists the models that work on a video, under Work on a video, with badges such as "Video to carry on" or "Video to edit". Gemini Omni 1.1, which carries clips on and edits them, comes first.
- Put the clip in its video slot. Press the slot to choose one of your clips, made on Video, on a board or uploaded, or to upload an MP4 or MOV. On a finished clip in My videos, Use in composer does this in one go: the bar opens on Edit a video with the clip in, on the model you had where it works on a video, else on one that carries clips on.
- Choose the job, where the model does more than one: under With the video, pick Extend it or Edit it.
- Describe it. Say what happens next, or the change to make.
- Check the price on Generate, and press Generate. The new clip appears at the top of My videos.
If the model can't take the clip, Generate stays off and the bar says why before anything is charged, such as a clip too long for the model, or a file that isn't MP4 or MOV.
Extend it
The model carries the clip on from its end: what happens next, as a new clip. Describe what happens, such as "the fox pauses, looks back, and bolts into the trees".
- Gemini Omni 1.1 is shown the clip's last ten seconds and picks the length of what it makes itself.
- PixVerse v6 (extend) adds the seconds you choose under Adds, each length at its own price, and its Sound switch makes sound for the new part, at a higher price.
Edit it
The model keeps the footage and changes it the way your words say: night, rain, a red coat. An edit is as long as the clip that goes in.
- Kling O3 (edit) takes clips of 3 to 15.5 seconds, and up to 4 image refs beside them, named @Image1 and on in the prompt. It makes no sound with a video in. With image refs in, you can pick the shape.
- HappyHorse (edit) takes clips of 3 to 60 seconds and up to 5 pictures. Its Sound setting keeps the video's own sound, or makes new sound for the changed picture.
- Gemini Omni 1.1 edits a clip as well as carrying it on.
Move a character like it
Kling 3.0 Motion Control has the person in your picture move the way the video moves. Add the video, then the character: one person, with their face and body in view. Words are optional; use them for the look and the light.
It takes videos of 3 to 30 seconds. Facing sets which way the character faces, as in the video or as in the picture (as in the picture takes videos of up to 10 seconds), and Background sets whose background is used, the video's or the picture's.
Before it runs, say who is in the character's picture: a real person, named, with their permission, or no real person. See Real people: faces, voices and consent.
What it costs
The price on Generate is worked out from the clip that goes in, and you're never charged more than it. In the model menu, these models show "by its length" until a clip is in.
They're priced by the second: an extension by the seconds it adds, an edit or a moving character by the seconds of the clip that goes in. That starts from 3.5 credits a second on PixVerse v6 (extend), 11.5 credits on Kling O3 (edit), 28 credits on HappyHorse (edit) and 11.5 credits on Kling 3.0 Motion Control. A run that fails gives its credits back automatically.
Upscale it
A clip can be upscaled to 1080p in Edit & Enhance. Press the slot beside the words and upload the clip, or choose it from Your pictures, which lists your clips too. Upscale is then the one tool on offer. Pick its Quality:
- Standard (Topaz Precision) sharpens the clip as it is, in seconds.
- Best (Topaz Starlight) draws in finer detail and takes a few minutes.
Either way the clip comes out with its shorter side 1,080 pixels and its shape kept, so a 480p draft in 9:16 becomes 1080 × 1920. It takes clips of up to 30 seconds and 50 MB that are under 1080p.
The price is set by the frames it makes, and the one on Run is for 30 frames a second, the most a clip is charged at. Most clips made here have 24, so they cost less: the difference comes back when the upscale finishes. The bar shows the size it comes out at and the price before you press Run. See Upscale, cut out, relight and edit a picture.
On a board
On a Creative Board, wire a finished clip into a video card's Video refs port, then choose under With the clip what the card does with it: Follow its motion, Extend it, Edit it, Move a character like it, Lip-sync it or Upscale it. The board's Add a card menu (the + on the rail, or the N key) also has a card for each job, such as Extend clip and Upscale clip. See Next shot, frames and reference videos on a board.
