Songs are made on Music. Making one sits in the column at the left, or above your songs on a phone; the songs you've made fill the rest of the page under My music, grouped by the day they were made, with a player along the foot. The Templates tab has styles and words to start from: a template fills in the column, and nothing runs until you press Create.
There are two ways to write one, picked at the top of the column: Simple and Advanced.
Simple: describe the song
- Choose Simple.
- Describe the song in a sentence or two, such as "A dreamy shoegaze song about missing the last train home". A description is up to 500 characters.
- Turn on Instrumental if you want no vocals.
- Press Create, or ⌘ Return (Ctrl Enter on Windows).
The words and the sound are written for you.
Advanced: your own lyrics and style
- Choose Advanced.
- Write the lyrics as they're sung, with section tags such as [Verse 1] and [Chorus]. Lyrics are up to 5,000 characters. To have them written, press Write with AI, say what the song is about, and they're written for the style you've described, at the price on the button. If there are lyrics there already, it says it will replace them before it does.
- Describe the style: the genre, the instruments, the voice, such as "synthwave, retro 80s, night drive, gated drums, hazy female vocal". Tap a suggested style to add it, or the shuffle button for others. The history button lists the styles of the songs you've made.
- Open More options for the finer controls:
- Vocal gender: Auto, Male or Female.
- Length: Auto, or Custom for an instrumental, from 15 seconds to 2 minutes.
- Exclude styles: what to keep out, such as "heavy metal, trap".
- Weirdness, Style influence and Audio balance: sliders that stay on Auto until you move one. The reset button puts them back.
- Give it a title, if you like.
- Press Create.
A song needs lyrics and a style. An instrumental needs a style, a line on how it should feel, or both, and no lyrics: the field becomes Description, such as "a slow build from solo piano to full strings, hopeful and warm".
The bin at the foot of the column clears it, keeping your mode and model.
Models
The model pill at the top of the column offers Suno V6, the default, Suno V6 Mini, described as fast and light, and Suno V6 Wild, described as bolder and more experimental.
What it costs
Every track is 6 credits, the same on every model and at every length. The price is on Create before you press, and you're never charged more than that.
While it's made
A new track appears at the head of My music straight away and says where it has got to. You can press Create again for the next one without waiting. Once the track is made it can play, and be downloaded, while its copy is saved.
To stop a track while it's being made, press the × on its row: it's cancelled and its credits come back. A track that fails gives its credits back automatically, and its row says how many.
Your songs
Press a song's cover to play it in the player. Each row has:
- Like, kept in this browser. Liked at the top of My music shows only those.
- Download, which saves the file to your device.
- Use again, which puts its style, its lyrics or description, and its model back in the column for a variation.
- ⋯ with Details and lyrics and Delete.
The details show the style, the lyrics or description, the tags and the cover art, with buttons to copy the style and the words. Search My music, or order it newest or oldest first.
My music shows the songs made on this page. Songs made on a board are in your Library with everything else.
To use a song in a video, see Put a voiceover or a song in a video.
