Download saves the file to your device, wherever your browser keeps downloads. It never opens a new tab or swaps the page you're on for the file, so you stay where you were.
How a download works
Press Download on a picture, a clip, a track, a board card or a piece in your Library. A small file arrives at once. A longer one shows "Downloading" with its name while it comes, and you can keep working, or move to another page in the app, meanwhile. Keep the tab open until it's saved.
On a board, Download is on a card's toolbar, its right-click menu, its full view, and the players for voice and music cards. Anyone who can open the board can download its cards, including people who can only view it.
The file's name and type
Files are named vessero- and then what they are, usually the first few words of the prompt or the card's name, such as vessero-a-lighthouse-at-dusk. Uploads keep the name they had.
The ending is the type the file really is. Models make pictures in different formats, so one picture may save as a PNG and another as a JPEG or a WebP. A .webp or .jpg file isn't broken: it's the picture as the model made it.
If it doesn't start
- Read the message. "That file could not be downloaded" means the file couldn't be fetched. Press Open in a new tab on the message, and save it from that tab.
- Reload a page left open for days. The links to your files last about a week, so a page open longer than that holds links that no longer answer. Reloading the page gets fresh ones.
- Downloading several at once? In your Library's Uploads, you can select several files and press Download: they're saved one after another. Your browser may ask whether to let Vessero download several files; allow it, so the rest can be saved.
- Removed work can't be downloaded. Something our team removed for breaking our rules shows as Prohibited, and its file no longer answers.
It opened in a tab instead
A plain click on Download saves the file. On some Download buttons, clicking with ⌘, Ctrl, Shift or Alt held down, or with the middle button, opens the file in a new tab instead, as it would for any link. Click again without them.
