A template is a board already laid out for one job: an ad, a storyboard, a product shoot, a narrated short. Its cards arrive with sample results you can edit or run again. Opening a template is free and makes a board of your own; nothing is charged until you press Run on a card.
Find one
- On Creative Board, open the Templates tab. Filter by All, Featured, or a category: Photo & art, Filmmaking, Social media, Branding, Audio, UGC ads, Ads, Apps & SaaS and Localise.
Some show what the board can do with clips: One take, three shots opens each shot on the last frame of the one before (Next shot), Copy a move follows a clip's motion, Restyle a clip edits a clip and makes it sharper, Presenter reads your script lip-syncs a presenter to a voiceover, and Twelve ads from one pattern fans one ad out with the Variations card.
- On Home, under Templates, a few boards are picked for who you said you are.
- Anywhere in the app, press ⌘K (Ctrl K on Windows) and type a template's name. Picking it makes the board straight away.
- On the site, Templates shows every one. Press Use this template to open it in the app, signing in first if you need to.
Each template card shows its category, its title, what it makes, the kinds of card on it, and about what running every card once would cost. That figure is an estimate: a script an assistant writes, or a voiceover's length, is known only once they run.
Open one
- Click a template to see the board it makes, read-only.
- Press Use template, or Use on the card in the Templates tab.
- A new board opens with the template's cards and wires, named after the template. If you've switched to a team workspace, it's made there.
Picture, clip, product, cast and assistant cards arrive with their sample results, and so does a track where a board has one. Voiceover, lip-sync, upscale and finish cards arrive not yet run, already wired: a finish waits for the voiceover wired into it, and Run all makes everything in order. A template picks no models: each card opens on the board's own default, and you can change it before you run.
A presenter on a template is the real member of Cast, with their own voice. A clip they speak in is wired to their voice, so every clip of the ad sounds like the same person. The samples a board arrives with were made before that, so a clip you run again can sound different from its sample.
Each board's notes say what its cards do and what to change first.
What it costs
Using a template is free. Each card is charged when you press its Run, at the price on its button. To make everything still to make in one go, use Run all, which prices every card first: see Run all and Finish: from cards to one cut.
Your first board
When you first sign in, you're asked who you are, such as a creator, a designer or a brand, and your answer picks a first board from the templates. Home offers it under Your first ad as one card from finished. On the board, the band at the top says One card left: press Run on the finish card to set the captions, the price and the end card onto the ad. It shows its price first, and you can leave the board while it finishes.
Templates in the studios
Images, Video, Music and Voice each have a Templates tab of their own. A studio template fills in the words and keeps your model where it can; nothing runs until you press Generate.
