What a Creative Board is

A Creative Board is an open canvas of cards joined by wires. Each card makes one thing, such as a picture, a clip, a voiceover or a track, from what is wired into it, so one card builds on another. Building a board is free; you pay when you run a card, at the price on its button.

A Creative Board is an open canvas for making something out of parts. Each card does one job: words, a picture, a clip, a voiceover or a track. Wires carry what one card makes into the next, so a clip can start from a picture another card drew, or speak in a voice another card read.

Building a board is free: adding cards, wiring them, uploading files and moving things around cost nothing. You pay in credits when you run a card, at the price on its button.

Your boards

Creative Board lists your boards under My boards, the most recently changed first. Press New board for a blank one, or open Templates for a board that's already laid out: see Start from a template.

Click a board's title in its header to rename it. In My boards, point at a board and press ⋯ for its menu:

  • Rename: type the new name in place and press Return (Escape keeps the old one).
  • Change cover: pick the picture the board shows in My boards and on Home, from the pictures on it, or Newest picture to let it follow your latest work.
  • Duplicate: makes "name (copy)" with every card, wire and result. Nothing runs and nothing is charged; a card still running comes over un-run.
  • Delete, then Delete again to confirm. That removes the board, its cards and their files for good. Only the board's owner can delete it.

Cards

Press N, or Add a card on the rail, and pick one from the list, or right-click the canvas. Double-click empty canvas for a note.

  • Text and List: notes, prompts and scripts. A List runs each line as a card of its own.
  • Assistant writes a storyboard, a shot list or a prompt from what you wire into it.
  • Image generator and Video generator make a still or a clip from words, references or frames.
  • Edit clip, Extend clip, Motion control, Lip sync and Upscale clip work on a clip you have.
  • Voiceover reads a script aloud, and Music turns a brief into a track.
  • Brand, Product and Cast hold your brand kit, a product and an AI actor. They don't run; they feed the cards wired to them. See Your brand kit and products and Cast an AI actor once and reuse them.
  • Finish cuts clips into one video, with captions or without. See Run all and Finish: from cards to one cut.
  • Group is a titled region that keeps a stage of the board together.

Bringing files in

Drag pictures, clips or sounds onto the canvas, paste them, or press Upload images, clips or audio on the rail. Each file can be up to 50 MB, and SVG files aren't taken. Keep the tab open until they've uploaded: a file cut off by a reload offers Upload again on its card.

From your Library puts something you made in any studio onto the board as a card of its own, free. The original stays where you made it.

When you drop a sound, you're asked whether it's a voice (someone speaking) or a sound (a song or music that only plays under a clip). For a voice, you're also asked whose it is: see Real people: faces, voices and consent.

Wires

Drag from the port on a card's right edge to a port on another card's left edge. While you drag, the ports that can take it light up. Drop the wire on empty canvas to make a new card that takes it. Point at a wire and press × to remove it.

A voice, a song or a clip's sound wired into a video card has a tag on its wire that says what the clip does with it, such as Speaks in this voice, Voiceover · lip-sync or Background song. On Seedance and Wan 3.0, name the sound in the card's prompt with @ and it is used just as the prompt says, a voice, a song under the clip or a sound effect, and its tag reads Your prompt says how. When you drop one, a small card says the same; close it with Got it. Press a tag to see where else the sound could go, or press Hide this tag to keep the board clear. A hidden tag shows again while you point at its wire.

Each port says what it carries. A video card, for example, takes Text, a Start frame and an End frame, Image refs, Video refs and Audio refs, and shows only the ports its model uses: a Voiceover port only on a talking model, which lip-syncs it. Typing @ in a prompt names a card and wires it in, the same as a drag.

A video card's model menu has every model that makes a clip on Video. Vidu Q4 and Kling O3 (reference) can't make a clip from words alone, so their rows say Needs a picture. Pick one and the card shows the ports it starts from, says what to wire, and keeps Run off until a picture is on one: Start frame or Image refs on Vidu Q4, Image refs on Kling O3 (reference).

Running a card

Press Run on the card, or ⌘ Return (Ctrl Enter on Windows) in its prompt. The price is on the button, and the line under the card's settings shows how it's worked out. Takes per run makes up to four takes, each on its own card.

If a picture or clip card's prompt is short or unclear, press Improve the words under it: it writes your idea out in full and keeps every detail you gave, the cards you named with @ too. Beside it is the most it can cost, such as "up to 1 credit". It's paid for like the board's runs, and only for what it uses. Undo puts your own words back.

While it runs, the card shows the stage it has reached, in words. Runs keep going on our servers, so you can leave the board. Run again makes a new take, and a picture or clip card keeps the ones before it: N takes in the corner of its picture lists them all, with when each was made, its length and its price. Use puts an earlier take back on the card, and it's then the one the card passes on and downloads. Any take can also be copied to a card of its own or downloaded.

On Seedance 2.5 a clip card has a Draft switch beside Sound and Music: the clip is made at 480p, at the 480p price. A finished draft shows Draft in its picture's corner with what making it sharp costs. Press it for the same take at 1080p, priced at the 1080p rate for its length, within 7 days. The sharp take becomes the card's, and the draft stays in its takes. If an upgrade fails, its credits come back and the draft stays as it was; Try again on the card makes it sharp again, at the upgrade's price, while the 7 days last.

On Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime a clip card's Settings take the link to a public web page, and the clip is made from what the page says, at the clip's own price. A page doesn't go with a start or an end frame: the card says so while one is wired, and won't run until you unwire it or take the link out. A document goes in on Video.

A card that fails says why, gives its credits back automatically, and offers Try again, a new run charged at the price on its button. See My video failed. Did I lose my credits?

Getting around

  • Undo and redo: ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z (Ctrl Z and Ctrl Y on Windows), up to 100 steps of your own changes while the board is open. Runs can't be undone.
  • Move around: scroll with two fingers on a trackpad or with the mouse wheel, or drag with the middle or right mouse button. Pinch, or hold ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows) while you scroll, to zoom.
  • Select (V) and Hand (H, or hold Space). Drag on empty canvas to box-select; ⌘D (Ctrl D) duplicates what's selected, with the wires between the copies.
  • Zoom: the percentage at the bottom right. D zooms to fit, F to the selection.
  • Tidy up: the button under zoom to fit on the rail, or ⇧D. It lays the loose cards out along their wires, left to right, so what feeds a card sits on its left, puts the cards with no wires after them, and leaves nothing on top of anything. Groups, and the cards on them, stay where they are; a card dropped on top of another on a group is taken off it and tidied with the rest. It's one step: ⌘Z (Ctrl Z), or Undo on the note it shows, puts every card back.
  • Full view: double-click a card to see its details and inputs, and to download what it made.

On a tablet, a foldable or a phone

Boards open on any screen at least 600 pixels wide and 480 tall: computers, iPads and Android tablets, an unfolded foldable like a Galaxy Z Fold or Pixel Fold, and a Surface Duo across both screens. With no mouse or trackpad, drag one finger on empty canvas to move around, pinch to zoom, and tap a card to select it.

On a phone, a flip phone, or a foldable while it's folded, the screen is too small for the cards and wires, so the board doesn't open. Copy its link to open on a computer or tablet, or unfold your phone. Everything is saved.
