A community is a creator's own space on Vessero, at vessero.com/c/ and its name: courses in a Classroom, a feed, chat channels, a calendar of live sessions, a members list and a leaderboard. Some are free to join; others have levels you pay for.
Find one
- From its creator: a link to the community, an invite link, or a join code.
- In Discover: at vessero.com/communities, or under Communities in the sidebar, Discover lists every live community, by category, with a search.
Communities you're in, and the ones you run, are listed under Communities in the sidebar.
Join
Before you join, a community shows its About page: who runs it, what's inside, its reviews, and a join card with its levels.
- Pick a level on the join card. Where a community has a free level, it's picked for you.
- Press its button:
- Join free lets you in with that one press and opens the feed. Not signed in yet? It takes you to make a free account, with Google or your email, then brings you back and lets you in, with nothing more to press. Already have an account? Press Sign in under the button instead.
- Join on a paid level lets you choose how to pay, monthly, yearly or once, and add a discount code if you have one. You pay through Stripe, with Vessero as the seller.
- Start 7 days free, or however many days the level gives, starts a free trial, then the price you chose.
- Some communities let each person in by hand. Answer their questions and press Ask to join. The host usually answers within a day, and your card isn't charged until you're let in. A request nobody answers runs out after 14 days.
Have a join code? Type it under Have a join code? on the join card. An invite link opens a page with one button to join, or to make an account first.
Inside
Members see Feed, Classroom, Calendar, Chat, Members, Leaderboard and About.
- Courses in the Classroom have video, written, file and assignment lessons. A course can open later: at a points level, some days after you join, on certain levels only, at its own price, or for people the host adds. A course with its own price can be on sale, shown with the usual price struck through, and Get it takes a discount code: if both apply, you pay whichever is lower.
- Links in posts, replies and chat show a preview: a YouTube video plays where it is, a PDF shows its first page, and other pages show their title and picture. A link to a community, shared anywhere, previews with its cover, name and tagline.
- Points: every like your posts and replies get is a point, and points climb levels 1 to 9, shown beside your name.
- Emails: the bell on the community's banner sets whether you get its announcements and a daily digest.
- Reviews: once you've paid for 30 days, you can leave one review, 1 to 5 stars.
- Credits: some paid levels come with Vessero credits each month, and the join card says how many. They're spent before your own and expire: a membership's 30 days after the period they came with, others 90 days after you get them.
To stop a paid level, press Manage beside it on the community's banner, then Stop renewing. You keep access until the end of what you paid for. If a renewal payment fails, you keep access for 7 days while it's tried again. A level paid once is yours for good. Payments for a community, its courses and its levels aren't refundable, except where the law where you live says otherwise; stopping a level ends it after the time you paid for. If you were charged twice, open a ticket: refunds are made by Vessero, not the host.
Start a community
Hosting comes with a plan: Starter and Plus host one community, Pro three and Ultra five. A number our team has given you counts too.
- Press New community under Communities in the sidebar, or go to Start a community.
- Give it a name, which makes its address, accept the Community Terms, and press Start it. That's all it asks.
- It opens as a draft that only you and your team see, with a Free level, and everything else starts set for you. Change what you like on its own page, when you like:
- Settings: its words, cover, logo and colour, its categories in Discover (Other until you pick up to 3), how people join (at once, or by asking, with up to 3 questions), who may post, and whether members may download lesson videos.
- Prices: up to 5 levels, each free or paid monthly, yearly or once, in US dollars with tax included. Monthly and yearly prices can start with a free trial of up to 30 days. Below them are your discount codes, the same list as in My products: a percentage or an amount off everything, your levels, your courses, your store products or the ones you pick. To put a course with its own price on sale, use its menu in My products: see Sales and discount codes.
- Classroom: your courses. A new course is checked and read by our team before it opens; later edits to a live course go live once our automatic checks pass.
- Members: under Ways in, invite links and join codes, each with a limit or an end date if you like. Where it's open to you, you can also email invitations to people who asked to hear from you, up to 500 a day. You give people their roles here too.
- When it's ready, press Publish in Settings. Pause stops new people joining; members keep their access.
Roles: the Owner does everything, money included; an Admin everything but money; a Moderator lets people in, keeps the feed and chat tidy and runs events; a Member takes part.
Need a hand setting it up? Our admins can open your community and work in it as an Admin: edit the page, build courses and upload lessons for you. They never set prices or touch sales and payouts, they aren't listed among your members, and each change is logged. Open a ticket to ask.
Once it's live, it shows in Discover, where anyone can find it and join. Our team can take a community out of Discover; Settings then says why.
To bring people in from your socials, add a Community block to your page: a card with its cover and a Join button.
The fee
Vessero sells your levels and courses in its own name and charges any VAT. Its fee on each payment is worked out on the price after tax, and falls with your plan:
| Your plan | Fee on each payment |
|---|---|
| Starter | 10% + $0.50 |
| Plus | 8% + $0.50 |
| Pro | 6% + $0.50 |
| Ultra or Business | 5% + $0.50 |
The fee is never less than what the payment costs us at Stripe, so on some cards, mostly ones from outside Europe, it's that cost instead. A community hosted without a plan pays the Starter rate. The Prices tab shows your fee, and credits you include with a level come out of your share, at Vessero's own credit price.
Each payment is held 30 days, then paid out with your Creator Store earnings: see Getting paid.
If your plan ends or drops
Communities over your new number pause, newest first. Members keep what they paid for, memberships run to their end, and nothing new is sold or joined. When you have room again, they open as they were.
