A payment can fail in two places: at checkout, while you're buying, or when a plan renews.
At checkout
If Stripe's checkout can't take the payment, nothing is bought and nothing on your account changes. Try another card or payment method, or go back.
If you paid with a method that takes time to clear, the credits arrive once the payment has cleared. If it never clears, nothing is added and there's nothing to undo.
When a plan renews
If the renewal payment doesn't go through:
- Plan and billing shows your plan as Payment failed, with "A payment did not go through. Update your card and Stripe will try again; nothing is lost in the meantime."
- The bell says "A payment did not go through".
- Your receipts list the failed payment.
To put it right:
- Go to Plan and billing.
- Under Manage, press Cards, invoices and cancelling. Stripe's billing page opens.
- Update your card. Stripe tries the payment again.
Meanwhile
- Everything you have keeps working, the credits on your account included.
- Your plan's next month of credits waits for the payment. When it goes through, they land as usual.
- You can still buy credits, if you need some before then.
If the payment never goes through and Stripe ends the subscription, your plan ends. Its credits end with it; credits you bought stay, with 60 days from then to use them; and everything you made stays where it is.
Business invoices
On a Business plan, an unpaid invoice shows as past due in Plan and billing. Pay it from the link in its email, or from Invoices and payment details. Nothing is lost in the meantime.
Still failing?
If your card details are right and payments keep failing, open a ticket and a person will look.
